An honest sizing guide from a company that only rents one size, because the right box beats the biggest box.
Dumpster sizes are measured in cubic yards of debris they hold. Rental companies in Maryland typically run 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 yard roll-offs, plus in-between sizes like our 13-yard. Here is what each class actually handles.
| Size | Typical footprint | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 10 yard | ~12ft x 8ft x 3.5ft | Small cleanouts, yard debris, tight driveways |
| 13 yard (ours) | 14ft x 8ft x 4.5ft | Garage and basement cleanouts, small remodels, single-layer roofs, estate cleanouts |
| 15-20 yard | ~16-22ft long | Larger remodels, flooring across a whole house, big deck removal |
| 30-40 yard | ~22ft x 8ft x 6-8ft | Demolition, new construction, commercial jobs |
We rent the 13-yard only, on purpose. It is the sweet spot for the residential work that makes up almost every job in Carroll, Howard, Montgomery, and Frederick counties: big enough for a real cleanout, low enough to load over the side without a ladder, and short enough to leave room in your driveway. One size also keeps our pricing flat and our logistics fast, which is how next-day delivery stays standard.
Straight answer: gut renovations of whole houses, full demolition, and commercial construction fill more than 13 yards. For those, either book multiple swaps, we drop a fresh box when the first is full, or rent a 30-yard from a construction-focused outfit. Tell us what you are doing when you call and we will tell you honestly whether one box covers it.
